About Nelson Place

The Nelson Street Student Accommodation site e is c.0.4Ha in size and is currently a vacant brownfield site.

In June 2016, Olympian Homes submitted a planning application (LA04/2016/1252/F) to develop purpose built managed student accommodation with a maximum height of 12 storeys and 774 beds.

In December 2021, PBSA Nelson Street SARL/ Student Roost submitted an application to amend LA04/2016/1252/F (LA04/2021/2893/F). The amendments include the integration of a multi-use recreational facilities into the purpose built, managed student accommodation block. The application was approved at the Belfast City Council planning committee in May 2022.

In December 2021, construction works commenced on site with piling rigs and plant machinery arriving on site.

In June 2022, cranes were erected on the site with development work on the development's cores commencing.

In July 2023, Graham Building North celebrated topping out the Nelson Place development.

In April 2024, Roost Propco NS (Student Roost) Limited submitted a planning application (LA04/2024/0651/F) proposing public realm improvements associated with purpose built managed student accommodation building including layby parking and cycle stands.

Nelson Place Student Accommodation is expected to be open for the 2024-2025 academic year (September 2024) and will be managed by Student Roost.

The site has also had an outline planning permission for an 11 storey apartment development of 217 units (Z/2012/0352/O granted at appeal in May 2013). Full planning permission (Z/2008/0824/F) was also granted in October 2014 for 238 apartments.
