About May Street Apartments

The site is located at the intersection of May Street and Victoria Street and covers an area of approximately 970 square metres. It is currently occupied by a mix of 1-3 storey buildings. These buildings housed a number of businesses such as the Belfast City Transport Social Club, Ginger Snips 2, P. A. Duffy & Co Solictors and Deery, McGuinness & Co Solictors.

In June 2020, Endeavour Partnership & Vinder Capital submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (LA04/2020/1329/PAN) proposing demolition of existing building and erection of multi-storey residential development with ground floor retail/restaurant use and associated site works.

In June 2022, a planning application was submitted (LA04/2022/1219/F) proposing demolition of existing building and erection of 11 storey building on May Street/Victoria Street and 4 storey building on Gloucester Street comprising 77 apartments with communal areas, ground floor retail, cycle and car parking, and vehicular access via Gloucester Street. The submitted planning application consists of a different design from the previously proposed design in the projects consultation.

In January 2024, May Street Apartments was recommended for approval at the Belfast City Council Planning Committee.
