About 565-567 Lisburn Road

565-567 Lisburn Road is currently a vacant site that is located at the junction of Maryville Avenue.

In June 2007, TBB Developments submitted a planning application (Z/2007/1526/F) propsoing the demolition of existing building and erection of new building comprising ground floor hot food bar and ground/first floor retail unit and second floor ancillary office/storage accommodation. The application was approved in November 2007 and the building was demolished shortly after. However, the proposed new building was not developed. Prior to demolition, the site was home to Mandarin Chinese & European Hot Food Carry Out and Orchid Lingerie (which later moved to 663 Lisburn Road).

In Ocotober 2016, JCDeacaux submitted a planning application (LA04/2016/2151/A) proposing 1 no. 48 sheet free standing advertising panel on the site. This application was refused in January 2017.

In November 2022, Scotco (Eastern) Ltd submitted two planning applications (LA04/2022/2222/F and LA04/2022/2226/F). One application (LA04/2022/2222/F) proposed the construction of a ground floor restaurant with 4 no. 1 bed apartments at first and second floor level whilst the second application (LA04/2022/2226/F) proposed the construction of a ground and first floor restaurant with 2 no. 1 bed apartments at second floor level.

Scotco (Eastern) Ltd is owned by Zuber and Mohsin Issa, who now own a majority stake in Asda and also bought Northern Ireland tycoon Michael Herbert’s fast food empire in a deal reportedly worth in the region of £40 million and included 146 KFC outlets across the UK and Ireland. While the planning documents do not identify what type of restaurant will occupy the premises, Scotco NI’s business is that of fast food services under franchise with KFC.
